MIDLIFE MINI-19, Wednesday, October 25, 2023 – Elections, Berating, and Characterless Associations.
Enter, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), a real piece of work. Lee, like Hillary R. Clinton (D-WON’T GO AWAY), is a typical caricature within the U.S. Democrat Party – just another player of dirty politics.
Democrats often drop soundbites into the political narrative, especially during election cycles, and then just let it run its course for political effect. It does not matter if those things are true, because enough people will believe them at face, so regardless of something getting disproven as in the case of former Mayor Lee Brown allegedly endorsing Lee – which did not happen, per Brown – the narrative soundbite will still survive and serve its inertial and effective purpose in tipping a few votes.
Case in point.
"HOUSTON - A second major controversy has emerged for the embattled mayoral campaign of Sheila Jackson Lee.
"It was triggered by a social media post from the Congresswoman announcing a public endorsement of her candidacy from former Houston Mayor Lee Brown” (1.).
So, the post came from her the congresswoman’s account. This means that the endorsement was either fabricated, or there would be some type of source reference, which in this case there is not, quite the contrary – “an unrecorded call (1.).
"Trouble is, Brown fully endorsed Jackson Lee's principal opponent State Senator John Whitmire earlier this year with sources telling FOX 26 that support was never rescinded, transferred, or split.
That is a pretty definitive position.
"In a statement from Brown via the Whitmire campaign, the former Mayor says, 'I never gave Sheila Jackson Lee’s campaign permission to use my name as an endorser. My endorsement remains with Senator Whitmire’” (1.).
So there are two (2) parts to Brown’s statement. First, he “never gave Sheila Jackson Lee’s campaign permission,” to use his name as an endorser. Secondly, his “endorsement remains with Senator Whitmire.” It is interesting wording, because he is publicly distancing himself from Lee and her campaign, twofold, by name, and by endorsement.
Again, definitive in response.
The Lee response to their campaign claim being debunked? In Democrat Party fashion, double down.
"A spokesperson for Jackson Lee told FOX 26 that the 'dual endorsement' was obtained during an unrecorded phone conversation between the Congresswoman and Brown on Oct. 19” (1.).
It is Clinton-speak, and unverifiable. A “dual endorsement” would be even harder to misstate, because it requires specific context. Brown would have had to give his endorsement on the alleged call, but would have had to clarify that it was dual. Endorsements are a big deal for candidates during a campaign. It is more plausible to conclude that the Lee campaign – to make it sound believable – attempted to clarify the lie, whereas Brown abjectly denied his association to both Lee, and her campaign.
The unwitting Houston voter? Unfortunately, behind the proverbial voting curtain, some voters will be caused to consciously or subconsciously disassociate Brown from Whitmire, while associating Brown to Lee, then vote accordingly.
Mission accomplished.

Lee’s previous controversy – only days earlier – had to do with her berating her Congressional staff. It is no surprise that Lee was recently endorsed by Hillary Clinton, someone with a long, documented history of berating staff, and others, including Slick Willie.
What did Lee say? Well, we are not sure, unless we listen to an unedited recording, because most of it had to be bleeped out. There are ten (10) expletive instances, to be exact. That is, ten (10) expletives had to be bleeped out of a mere ten (10) sentences.
Now, I am no mathematician, but that is some equitable expletive distribution, and a lot of [expletive] expletives.
Please follow along.
“’When I called Jerome, he only sits up there like a fat [expletive], just talking about what the [expletive] he doesn’t know,’ [Lee] said. ‘Both of y’all are [expletive]-ups…This is the worst [expletive] that I could’ve ever had put together. Two [expletive] big [expletive] children. [expletive] idiots. Serve no [expletive] purpose.
“’Nobody’s respecting him, nobody gives a [expletive] about what you’re doing. And you ain’t doing [expletive]. And this is an example of it. I gave it to Jerome. This is not child’s work, ok,’ Jackson Lee said” (2.).
Is this the first reported instance of behavioral bliss for Lee? Nope.
“This is not the first time Jackson Lee has gone off on staff members. In fact, in 2011, a Daily Caller report cited a number of former staff members as saying she used demeaning language and name-calling when addressing them” (2.).

So, what about her endorser? Let us look at a few choice excerpts from Clinton’s esteemed … cough, cough … history with her staff.
“The Secret Service, [Roger] Stone writes, got a glimpse of the domestic discord as early as Inauguration Day 1993, when Bill told her she couldn’t take the vice president’s office as her own.
“’Hillary began Inauguration Day 1993 cursing and shrieking profanities at Bill,’ Stone writes. This account was also documented in Gary Aldrich’s book ‘Unlimited Access: An FBI Agent Inside the Clinton White House’ — as was her verbal abuse towards her Secret Service detail.
“’Just stay the f–k back — stay the f–k away from me!’ she’d tell them. ‘Don’t come within 10 yards of me, or else! Just f–king do as I say, okay?’” (4.).
Interesting; does that language sound familiar? It is also about the same expletive-sentence ratio as Lee.
Was that a one-off for not-ever-President Clinton? Of course not.
“As editor and author R. Emmett Tyrell has reported, the verbal and physical abuse has not relented since the Clintons left the White House: ‘Sources close to the Secret Service . . . report that dreadful altercations have erupted several times,’ and usually involve ‘yelling, screaming, throwing of soft and hard objects, breakage of vases and glasses and just plain nastiness.’
“The newer, fuzzier Hillary will be a hard sell with voters [circa 2015-2016], Stone tells The Post. ‘There’s only one Hillary Clinton: she’s the Ice Queen,’ he says. ‘That’s the real Hillary. The one you see in her campaign — that’s the fake’” (4.).
Only a suspicion, but I do not think that Houston needs an Ice Queen for Mayor.

As for the endorsement, “Clinton has joined a growing roster of prominent Democratic leaders who have thrown their support behind Jackson Lee. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former gubernatorial candidate Beto O'Rourke have also recently backed her mayoral bid” (3.).
“Jackson Lee has been a staunch supporter of the Clinton family for decades. In 2008, she went against the wishes of many Black leaders and her own constituents to endorse Clinton over former President Barack Obama in the Democratic Party presidential primary.
“During a particularly emotional event at Texas Southern University that year, she was booed by hundreds of Obama supporters – a scene captured by a YouTube video. It was a challenging episode that put her ‘right in the bull’s-eye,’ Jackson Lee told Texas Monthly at the time, but she said did not regret her decision to stand by Clinton” (3.).
Lee, associating herself with Clinton and O’Rourke – Clinton verses Obama (lost in 2008), Clinton (lost in 2016), O’Rouke (lost in 2018, 2020, and 2022) – sounds more like a cohort of losing.
Houston has more character, and can do better; Houston deserves far better.
